Job Description Job Description We are seeking a Senior Project
Accountant to support project based accounting for a fast paced
professional services organization. This role partners closely with
Project Managers, Finance, and Operations to ensure projects are
set up correctly, tracked accurately, and reported in line with
contractual and financial requirements. This is a hands on position
for someone who understands the full project lifecycle and enjoys
owning the numbers behind active engagements while helping improve
processes as the organization grows. Senior Project Accountant
Responsibilities: Own the financial management of assigned projects
from setup through closeout Manage project billing activities
including review and release of invoices in accordance with
contracts, rate structures, and client requirements Partner with
Project Managers to monitor project performance, budgets, WIP, and
profitability Review time and expense entries for accuracy,
completeness, and compliance with billing guidelines Prepare and
analyze project level reports including WIP, revenue recognition,
and variance analysis Support month end close related to project
revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables Investigate and
resolve billing discrepancies, adjustments, write offs, and re
billings Ensure project data is accurately maintained in accounting
and project management systems Assist with process improvements
related to project setup, billing workflows, and reporting Serve as
a point of contact for project accounting questions across Finance,
Operations, and delivery teams Support audits and ad hoc reporting
requests as needed Senior Project Accountant Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 4 to 7
years of experience in project accounting or professional services
accounting Prior experience in architecture, engineering,
consulting, legal, media, or similar project based environments
Strong understanding of WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and
project based billing models Comfortable working directly with
Project Managers and senior stakeholders Experience with accounting
and project billing systems Highly organized with strong attention
to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities Clear
communicator who can explain financial concepts to non finance
partners
