Description Youth Rec Attendant Larchmont Yacht Club Larchmont, New York Year-Round, Part-Time $18.00 per hour Reports to: Manager of Youth & Family Activities About Larchmont Yacht Club Located just 16 miles from New York City, Larchmont Yacht Club is a year-round waterfront community where families come together to connect, relax, and stay active. Set on an 11-acre campus along Long Island Sound, the Club offers a wide range of recreational and social programming for members of all ages. Our youth programs are a central part of the Club experience. Throughout the year, children participate in sailing, swim instruction, tennis clinics, seasonal camps, and structured recreational programming. The Youth Rec program provides a welcoming, supervised space where young members can play, create, build friendships, and feel a strong sense of belonging within the Club community. We are seeking dependable, energetic Youth Rec Attendants to join our team in this year-round, part-time role. Position Summary The Youth Rec Attendant helps deliver engaging, safe, and well-organized programming for children during scheduled youth activities and family events. You will supervise recreational play, lead structured activities, support special programs, and maintain an inviting Youth Rec space. This position is ideal for high school seniors, college students, education majors, aspiring teachers, youth coaches, and individuals interested in recreation or child development. It is a strong opportunity to build leadership skills, gain hands-on experience working with children, and become part of a respected private club community. Youth Rec Attendants play an important role in shaping positive experiences for children and families throughout the year. Key Responsibilities Lead and assist with recreational activities including games, arts and crafts, team challenges, and group play Supervise children during structured programming and open recreation while maintaining safety and accountability Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that encourages cooperation, respect, and positive social interaction Assist with youth events, holiday programs, and seasonal activities Set up and break down activity areas, ensuring materials are organized and equipment is safe and age-appropriate Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting Youth Rec space Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, children, and fellow staff members Model positive behavior and uphold Club standards at all times Attend required trainings and staff meetings Adapt to schedule changes, weather shifts, and varying participation levels while maintaining professionalism Ideal Background We welcome candidates who bring enthusiasm, reliability, and a genuine interest in working with children. Strong applicants often have experience in: Camp counseling Babysitting or childcare Coaching youth sports Classroom support or tutoring Recreation or community center programming This is a particularly strong opportunity for students pursuing education, psychology, recreation management, sports management, or related fields.
