Position Title : Extended School Year (ESY) Teacher (Summer
2026) Status : Non-Exempt, 6 -Weeks Reports To : Assistant
Principals/Executive Director Job Summary: Archbishop Damiano
School is seeking teachers for the Extended School Year (ESY)
program. The ESY teacher(s) will provide instruction based upon the
student’s IEP goals, collaborates with administrators, central
office support staff, and paraprofessionals. The teacher(s) will
participate in summer collaborative team meetings/in-service days,
plan and implement instruction, develop positive relationships with
students and families, monitor and communicate progress using data
collection tools, utilize instructional and supplemental resources
effectively and responsibly, assist with routine care, including
personal hygiene, feeding and other tasks. Qualification for the
Position: Bachelors' degree, current valid New Jersey Teacher
Certificate. Certification as New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped
or Teacher of Students with Disabilities with Elementary Education,
preferred. Approved Criminal History Review from the NJ Department
of Education, Office of Criminal History Review. Two (2) years of
successful teaching experience in special education preferred.

interpersonal skills and leadership skills. Strong content and
subject knowledge Essential Duties/Responsibilities of the
Position: Provide direct individual, small group and/or large group
instruction to address students’ IEP goals/objectives. Instruction
will focus on reading, math, and social skills. Prepare cognitively
challenging lessons, assignments, and enrichment activities.
Differentiate instruction. Establish a productive learning
environment and classroom culture in which all students are
respected. Supervise safe arrival and dismissal of all students
assigned to their classroom. Supervise lunch, field trips, and
other activities. Maintain timely student attendance and progress
records. Consult with related service providers to address
students’ needs. Provide students, families and administration with
relevant and timely data, including monitoring and reporting
students’ progress. Participate in all scheduled professional
development. Care for program materials and resources. Engage as a
partner in planning and problem solving. Assess students referred
for summer IEP team meetings, provide written assessment results
and/or attend IEP team meetings if required. Performs other related
duties as requested by the Assistant Principals or Executive
Director. Abilities: Possesses mature judgement. Exercises
initiative. Is a team player. Love of learning – a lifelong
learner. Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students.
